Over thirty years ago, the Reissmann diamond theft made the headlines, both for the size of the haul and the way the Reissmann family were treated by the gang. When new information comes to light as to where the haul may be hidden, the woman known only as Madame X recruits some 'friends' to find the diamonds and retrieve them for herself, while at the same time not alerting other groups to what she knows.
